Spoken Word Poetry:
From Page to Stage
Monday, March 11th-April 15th (meets for 30mins once a week) at 11:00am EST

$60 per student
6 students maximum, minimum 2 students to run
Each week, students will be introduced to some of the greatest spoken word artists to grace the stage along with fun writing exercises and prompts on a given topic.
Students will have an ongoing project that will culminate in an anthology of their own original spoken word poems by the end of the course and will learn to perform their poems with conviction, emotion, and physicality.
No experience necessary, bring your energy, a pen, and your enthusiasm!
Laurabeth Rapaz teaches this course.
Laurabeth Rapaz, our Founder, is an educator born and raised in New York City. She graduated from Brown University in 2006 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. In 2012 she earned her M.A. in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York's Applied Theatre Program. She also spent 15 years as a professional actress in New York City (if you'd like to learn more about her acting credentials, click here). As an acting teacher she is dedicated to helping participants bring spontaneity, fun, risk, and most importantly, truth to their creative work. Laurabeth is also a professional puppeteer and toured with Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain’s Broadway production of War Horse, playing the foal, Baby Joey.
Laurabeth competed in the Youth Speaks National Poetry Slam in New York City and studied Poetry and Phenomenology at Brown University under poet and professor Forest Gander.
